Don't good writers have to be good readers? What do you think?


A friend of ours recently told us that he is retired now and wants to write a book.  Since he slipped by through school and rarely reads books, he wondered how realistic it would be for him to try and write one. He said, "Don't good writers have to be good readers?"

What do you think?  Any writing on the run tips for those who don't have time to pump up their creativity with the energy and examples of great books?
